|| Ice Cream Factory Fined Tk 1 Lakh for Food Safety ViolationsRayhan Ahmed, Bureau Chief, Mymensingh: A mobile court has fined an ice cream factory Tk 1 lakh for violating food safety laws in Mymensingh city.A joint drive was conducted on Monday (October 26, 2026) by the Mymensingh district administration and the Mymensingh Metropolitan Office of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority.The mobile court was led by Shanirul Islam Shawon, assistant commissioner and executive magistrate at the Mymensingh Deputy Commissioner's Office.During the drive, the court found prohibited artificial sweetener (cyclamate) stored at the warehouse of Bari Cone Ice Cream Factory in Brahmapalli, Ward 15, Mymensingh. The factory authorities also failed to produce invoices or receipts for various food additives.The factory was fined Tk 1 lakh under Section 38 of the Food Safety Act, 2013.Mohammad Atikur Rahman, food safety officer at the Mymensingh Metropolitan Office, coordinated the operation. Food safety inspectors, a team of district police and other supporting staff were also present.Atikur Rahman said drives against food adulteration would continue as part of ongoing efforts to ensure food safety.
