Md Tanju Ahmed, Raipur: A mobile court operation was conducted by the local administration in Akhon Bazar area of Raipur upazila in Lakshmipur after allegations of illegal stockpiling of fuel oil and selling it at inflated prices.The drive took place around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday (April 18, 2026).During the operation, approximately 350 liters of fuel oil were seized from the shop and adjacent residence of a businessman named Jasim (45). Initial investigations revealed that he had been storing fuel without authorization for a long time and selling it at prices higher than the market rate, which constitutes a violation of consumer rights.Following the confirmation of the allegations, the mobile court fined him 20,000 taka. The fine was collected on the spot. He was also warned not to engage in such activities in the future.According to the administration, the seized fuel will later be sold to local consumers at fair prices under government supervision, and the proceeds will be deposited into the government treasury.Law enforcement personnel were present during the operation and provided assistance.The administration stated that drives against illegal stockpiling and overpricing will continue in the future.
Officials said, “Regular operations will be conducted to stabilize the market and protect the interests of general consumers.”
