|| MM Rahmatullah: My Bangladesh Party (AB Party) has called for structural reforms to address unsafe Eid travel, mismanagement of Qurbani waste, political violence, and social decay, while condemning the suppression of dissent.Speaking at a press conference held Sunday at the party’s central office in Bijoy Nagar, Dhaka, AB Party General Secretary Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad said the country’s culture of impunity was fueling public anger and protests.Fuad said the party appreciated AB Party Chairman Mujibur Rahman Manju’s initiative in leading the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Law Minister to visit Ramisa’s residence to offer condolences. However, he argued that the continued nationwide outrage stemmed from systemic failures in delivering justice.“Rape, murder, drugs, and extortion are interconnected crimes. If the state fails to address the political and social foundations of these criminal networks, new Ramisas will continue to emerge,” Fuad stated.He warned that declining public trust in the judiciary could push people to take the law into their own hands, citing alarming incidents reported from different parts of the country as evidence.The press conference also condemned the attack on National Citizens Party (NCP) leader Nasir Uddin Patwari in Jhenaidah. AB Party said political differences should never escalate into assaults or violent clashes, and urged all sides to maintain restraint, civility, and tolerance in political discourse.“The role of the opposition is to criticize the government. The government must have the temperament to accept that,” Fuad said.With Eid approaching, the party raised concerns over road safety and public transport. Fuad noted that while millions travel home for Eid each year, the lack of a safe transport system results in hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries annually.AB Party also reiterated its demand to modernize cattle markets, slaughtering processes, and waste management during Qurbani. The party said unplanned slaughter and poor waste disposal create yearly problems of environmental pollution, public suffering, and health risks.Citing Islam’s emphasis on cleanliness and beauty, the party urged the government and city corporations to adopt modern, hygienic, and environmentally friendly Qurbani management practices.Party Joint General Secretaries Advocate Abdullah Al Mamun Rana and Shahadatulllah Tutul, along with other central and metropolitan leaders, were present at the briefing.
