Staff Correspondent: Friends of Humanity (FOH) USA has installed five electric deep tube wells in Dhaka to ensure access to safe drinking water for minority communities living in Adamjee Nagar Camp and Mirpur.The foundation of two tube wells was laid at Adamjee Nagar Camp on June 12, 2026. Syed Osama Jalal, Country Director of FOH Bangladesh, was present and inaugurated the work. In Mirpur, foundations for three additional deep tube wells were laid in Sections 10, 11 and 12. The work was inaugurated by three former Dhaka City Corporation councilors — Kazi Ali Imam Asad, Anisur Rahman, and Md. Sajjad Hossain — along with government officials and other local dignitaries.Local leaders and residents expressed gratitude to FOH USA leadership for addressing the long-standing shortage of clean water in the camps. Special thanks were conveyed to FOH USA President Ahmed Karim Jangda, Vice President Tariq Malhance, General Secretary Syed Nayyer Alam, and Treasurer Naila Ahmed for funding and coordinating the project.Speaking at the Mirpur event, former Councilor Md. Sajjad Hossain urged FOH USA to expand support beyond water. He requested the organization to consider installing toilets with sewage drains and providing sewing machines for women in the camps. “If toilets and sewing machines are provided, residents will become more self-reliant and be able to better support their families,” he said.FOH Bangladesh officials said the organization remains committed to working with local government bodies. “On behalf of our government, we are interested in providing all kinds of cooperation to Friends of Humanity USA and HID Rangpur for future development initiatives,” a representative noted.FOH USA, a US-based humanitarian organization, focuses on water, sanitation, and livelihood projects in underserved communities across Bangladesh.
