MM Rahmatullah: Under the kind supervision of His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Zafar Al‑Ubaidi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, the Dhaka office of the Muslim World League (Rabita Al‑Alam Al‑Islami) has implemented the “Ramadan Food Basket” (Iftar Saiem) project.

The launch event was held on Tuesday, 24 February (6 Ramadan, 1447 H) at the Royal Saudi Embassy.

Through this initiative, approximately 22,500 of the most needy and underprivileged people across various regions of Bangladesh—including forcibly displaced Rohingya refugee camps—have directly benefited.

Mr. Turki Bin Said Al‑Majdoui, head of the Muslim World League’s Bangladesh office, and Mr. Yasir Sheshah, Political and Media Director and Spokesperson of the Saudi Embassy in Dhaka, stated that the project aims to reinforce Islamic values of mutual compassion and brotherhood, and to stand beside the vulnerable during the holy month of Ramadan.

As part of the “Ramadan Food Basket” distribution, 5,335 baskets were handed out exclusively to Rohingya refugees on the day. In addition, King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) distributed separately another 6,000 food baskets to the Rohingya community.

Alongside senior officials from the Saudi Embassy and the Muslim World League, attendees included Dr. Emdad, Masudur Rahman, and Mr. Turki Al‑Majdoui, Manager of the Muslim World League’s Dhaka office.
