Tk 2 Lakh worth of goods stolen from food office in Phulpur

Mijan Akanda, Phulpur: A daring burglary took place at the office of the Upazila Food Controller in Phulpur, Mymensingh, with goods worth approximately Tk 2 lakh stolen from the government office.

The incident occurred at the office located on Shibbari Road in Phulpur Municipality late Saturday night.

Officials and employees discovered the theft when they arrived at the office on Sunday morning and found the lock on the main door broken. According to an on-site inspection, the burglars broke open the main entrance lock, entered the office and stole several government-owned items.

The stolen goods reportedly include computers, a printer, an IPS (backup power system) and batteries, with their total estimated value being around Tk 2 lakh.

Confirming the incident, Phulpur Upazila Food Controller Shahina Begum said the burglary at a government office was deeply concerning and reflected serious security shortcomings.

She stressed the need for a prompt and proper investigation to identify and bring those responsible to justice.

Phulpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Firoz Hossain said a general diary (GD) had been filed with the police over the theft.

Police have already visited the scene and are working to recover the stolen property and arrest those involved in the incident.
