Barishal Bureau: A Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH) programme featuring a cultural competition, discussion and prize-giving ceremony was held at Gachhua Union in Muladi upazila of Barishal, with speakers calling on people, particularly the younger generation, to follow the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The programme was held at 10am on Saturday, September 19, at the Eidgah ground of Khan Bari in Madhya Gachhua under Gachhua Union. The event was organised by the Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH) Celebration Committee of Gachhua Union.
The speakers discussed various aspects of the Prophet's (PBUH) life, including truthfulness, trustworthiness, justice, compassion, forgiveness, family responsibilities, protection of people's rights and social reform.
Dr Md Mohiuddin Ahmed, principal of Misbahul Ulum Kamil Madrasah, Motijheel, Dhaka, attended the programme as chief guest.
Speaking at the event, Dr Mohiuddin Ahmed said the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) provide important guidance not only for Muslims' religious lives but also for building ethical and humane societies.
He said the Prophet's (PBUH) teachings emphasised truthfulness, honesty, justice, compassion, forgiveness, family responsibility and respect for human rights.
"The true expression of love for the Prophet (PBUH) is to learn about his life and teachings and strive to apply them in personal and social life," he said.
He also stressed the importance of introducing children and young people to Seerat studies and moral values.
Dr Sheikh Mahmudul Hasan, chief Muhaddis of Misbahul Ulum Kamil Madrasa and Khatib of Baitul Aman Society Central Jame Mosque, was the chief speaker.
He highlighted the importance of following the Prophet's (PBUH) character, Sunnah, patience, compassion, message and principles of social justice.
He said discussions on Seerat-un-Nabi should not remain limited to formal programmes but should inspire people to apply its teachings in their families and communities.
He particularly called for encouraging children and young people to study the Seerat, saying that truthfulness, discipline, morality, responsibility and humanitarian values are important for building an ideal society.
Maulana Md Abu Saleh, assistant teacher at Islamabad Nesaria Fazil Madrasa in Muladi, said greater attention should be given to children's moral and religious education.
Mohammad Abu Hanif, executive member of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), stressed the need to spread the teachings of Seerat-un-Nabi across society. He said engaging young people with authentic knowledge and moral values is particularly important in the age of information technology.
Advocate Md Faizullah (Foyez), an advocate of the Appellate Division of the Bangladesh Supreme Court, highlighted justice, human rights, mutual respect and social responsibility, urging people to draw lessons on these issues from the life of the Prophet (PBUH).
The programme was presided over by Lecturer Md Didarul Ahsan, chairman of the Gachhua Union Development Forum.
In his remarks, Didarul Ahsan thanked everyone involved in organising the event and stressed the importance of involving children and young people in educational, moral and socially beneficial activities.
He said such programmes could play a role in spreading the teachings and values of the Prophet (PBUH) at the grassroots level.
A cultural competition based on the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was one of the main attractions of the programme.
Children, young people and students took part in the competition, creating an enthusiastic atmosphere at the event. The organisers said the competition provided participants with an opportunity to learn about the Prophet's (PBUH) life and character while developing their talents and confidence.
Following the competition, prizes were distributed among the winners and participating students. Guests handed over the prizes and congratulated the winners, while encouraging other participants to continue their studies and improve their performance.
The prize-giving session generated considerable enthusiasm among the children and young participants.
Speakers at the programme also highlighted the broader social significance of the Prophet's (PBUH) teachings, particularly compassion, social responsibility, cooperation and harmony.
They said his life provides lessons on respecting others, helping vulnerable people, protecting neighbours' rights and working for justice and peace in society.
The organisers expressed hope that the programme would contribute to increasing moral and social awareness among local people.
By combining religious discussions with a cultural competition and prize-giving ceremony, the event took the form of a community-oriented educational initiative. The participation of children and young people also provided an opportunity to encourage greater interest among the younger generation in Islamic history and the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
