High Commissioner highlights people-to-people exchanges to strengthen Bangladesh-Pakistan ties
MM Rahmatullah: Pakistani travel and tourism companies are showcasing the country's diverse tourism attractions, cultural heritage, cuisine and medical treatment facilities at the Bangladesh Travel & Tourism Fair, which began in Dhaka on October 29 and will continue until October 31.
Pakistan High
Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider attended the opening ceremony of the
fair, where Nurun Nahar Chowdhury, Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation
and Tourism of Bangladesh, was the chief guest.
Speaking at the event, Haider
emphasised the importance of people-to-people exchanges in strengthening
bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan, describing the two countries
as brotherly nations.
He later inaugurated
the Pakistan Pavilion at the fair and invited visitors to explore the wide
range of tourism opportunities available in Pakistan.
The participation of
Pakistani companies is aimed at introducing Bangladeshis to the country's
diverse attractions, including breathtaking natural landscapes, distinctive
cultural traditions, traditional and modern cuisine, and medical treatment
facilities.
Pakistan offers a
variety of travel experiences, ranging from the majestic mountains and scenic
valleys of its northern regions to historic cities, archaeological sites and religious
and cultural landmarks. Its rich heritage and diverse geography provide
opportunities for adventure tourism, cultural exploration and family holidays.
The participation also
highlights the potential for expanding tourism-related business contacts
between the two countries. Greater engagement between travel operators, tour
organisers and other stakeholders could help create new opportunities for
tourism promotion and commercial cooperation.
Medical tourism is
another area being highlighted at the fair, with participating companies
presenting opportunities for visitors seeking treatment and healthcare services
in Pakistan.
People-to-people
contact remains an important element of Bangladesh-Pakistan relations,
alongside cooperation in trade, investment, education and cultural exchanges.
Tourism can contribute to stronger connections by allowing people to experience
each other's traditions, lifestyles and heritage firsthand.
The three-day fair
provides a platform for Pakistani companies to connect with Bangladeshi
visitors and tourism-sector stakeholders, promote travel destinations and
explore potential business partnerships.
The inauguration of the
Pakistan Pavilion underscores the interest in expanding tourism links between
the two countries and creating greater awareness among Bangladeshis of
Pakistan's tourism offerings.
With its varied
landscapes, cultural diversity and historical attractions, Pakistan is seeking
to position itself as a destination for Bangladeshi travellers interested in
leisure, culture, adventure and medical services.
