Land Service Hearing Held in Shibganj; Litchi Sapling Planted, Wheelchairs Distributed

Mizanur Rahman, Shibganj: A public hearing on land services was held in Chhatrajitpur Union of Shibganj Upazila in Chapainawabganj to receive complaints, suggestions and feedback from local residents regarding various land-related issues.

The programme was organised jointly by the Chapainawabganj District Administration and the Shibganj Upazila Land Office at the Chhatrajitpur Union Land Office premises on Monday afternoon.

Chapainawabganj Deputy Commissioner Abu Saleh Md. Musa Janggi attended the event as the chief guest. During the hearing, he listened attentively to the grievances, opinions and problems raised by service recipients and directed the concerned officials to take prompt and effective measures to resolve them.

Among others present were Shibganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mazharul Islam, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Toufiq Aziz, the Nayeb of Chhatrajitpur Union Land Office and officials and employees from various government departments.

Local residents highlighted a range of issues, including mutation and land registration, land development tax, correction of records of rights, and complications related to land records and documentation.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner said the government is working to reduce public suffering by ensuring transparency and accountability in land administration. He noted that such public hearings play a vital role in delivering faster and more accessible services to citizens at their doorsteps.

Speakers at the event said the initiative aims to simplify land services, prevent corruption and harassment, and strengthen direct communication between service providers and beneficiaries, thereby enhancing public confidence in government services.

Following the hearing, the Deputy Commissioner planted a litchi sapling on the premises of the Chhatrajitpur Union Land Office. Later, he distributed wheelchairs among differently-abled schoolchildren at the Shibganj Upazila Parishad compound.

Local residents welcomed the public welfare initiatives and called for the regular organisation of similar land service hearings in the future.
