Special Correspondent: Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia are moving beyond traditional diplomatic cooperation to build a broader strategic partnership centered on transport, logistics and maritime infrastructure, with Dhaka actively seeking Saudi investment in major port and connectivity projects, according to discussions held during a high-level bilateral meeting.The talks, held at the Bangladesh Secretariat, brought together Road Transport, Bridges, Railways and Shipping Minister Sheikh Robiul Alam and a Saudi delegation led by Vice Minister for Transport and Logistics Dr. Rumaih bin Mohammed Al-Rumaih.Officials familiar with the discussions said both countries explored opportunities for long-term collaboration in port modernization, maritime transport, logistics infrastructure, technology transfer and investment, reflecting growing economic engagement between Dhaka and Riyadh.During the meeting, the Bangladesh side outlined ongoing efforts to transform the country's transport and shipping sectors through large-scale infrastructure development. The minister highlighted the expansion of operational capacity at Chattogram and Mongla ports, progress on the Bay Terminal project and broader initiatives aimed at positioning Bangladesh as a regional logistics hub.Seeking to attract foreign capital, Sheikh Robiul Alam invited Saudi investors to participate in Bangladesh's expanding port and logistics sectors, emphasizing the country's improving investment climate and growing demand for modern transport infrastructure.The Saudi delegation welcomed Bangladesh's economic progress and acknowledged the significant improvements in its maritime and logistics sectors in recent years.
