Feni Samity UK elects new leadership unopposed

In a show of unity and community solidarity, the top four office-bearers of Feni Samity UK for the term 2026 have been elected unopposed.

According to the election schedule announced by the Election Commission, the last date for submission of nomination papers was 17 October. By that deadline, only one valid nomination was submitted for each of the four key posts - President, General Secretary, Organizing Secretary and Treasurer. As a result, there was no need for a contest for these posts.

The Election Commission declared the following panel elected unopposed at a general meeting of the Commission and general members of the Samity held on 18 October at a local restaurant in Manor Park, London:

President: Bidhu Hossain Mahi

General Secretary: Nazrul Islam Biddul

Treasurer: Abdul Kaiyum Shimul

Organizing Secretary: Mohammed Rakib Hossain

The meeting was organized under the joint initiative of the Election Commission and the general members. The Commission informed that nominations were invited for eight posts in total, but after scrutiny, the four main posts received single nominations, leading to unopposed victory. The process for the remaining posts is ongoing.

In his reaction, the newly elected President Bidhu Hossain Mahi thanked the Feni community in the UK for their trust and sought cooperation from all to make the organization more dynamic, united and welfare-oriented. He said Feni Samity UK has long been working not only as a social platform for people from Feni living in the United Kingdom, but also as a bridge for economic support, emergency assistance and welfare activities for families back home.

Other newly elected leaders also said they want to work together to strengthen bonding among expatriates, support newcomers, organize educational and cultural programmes for the next generation, and continue remittance and investment initiatives that contribute to Bangladesh's economy.

Community elders including Monir Ahmed, Siddik Ahmed, Morshed Islam, Bishu Saha, Faruk Hazari, Mahi Uddin Babla and Mahbubul Haque were present at the meeting and congratulated the new leadership.

The Feni Samity UK is considered one of the active district-based expatriate organizations in the United Kingdom, known for its charitable work both in the UK and in Feni.
