DU Correspondent: A three-member delegation from China's Beihang University met with Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam on Thursday to discuss avenues for academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.
The delegation, led by Prof. Dr. Lin Zhang, included Prof. Dr. Jingnong Weng and Mrs. Jianwei Sun. The meeting was held at the Vice-Chancellor’s office at Dhaka University. Prof. Dr. Md. Kamrujjaman of the university’s Mathematics Department was also present.
During the meeting, the two sides explored opportunities for launching joint academic and research programmes and expressed interest in strengthening institutional cooperation. They agreed in principle to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the near future to formalize the partnership.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Obaidul Islam highlighted the longstanding friendship between Bangladesh and China, noting that a significant number of Bangladeshi students pursue higher education in China each year.
He expressed optimism that educational and research exchanges would further deepen bilateral relations between the two countries in the coming years.
Later, the Chinese delegation paid a courtesy call on DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Abdus Salam at his office, where they discussed matters of mutual academic interest.
