CN Desk: A human chain and submit memorandum to the offices of the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police has been formed in Gazipur to protest the terrorist attack on journalist Mosleh Uddin Bachchu.

The program was organized by the Gazipur Central Press Club in front of the main gate of the Gazipur Deputy Commissioner's Office at 11 am on Thursday (April 23).

The speakers in the human chain said that such a barbaric attack on a professional journalist is not an isolated incident; it is a direct attack on independent journalism, the right to expression and the security of the media. They demanded the immediate arrest of the attackers, a fair and impartial investigation into the incident and the highest level of medical treatment and security for the injured journalist.

The speakers also said that the continuous attacks on journalists in the country are a serious threat to democracy and the rule of law. Therefore, taking effective and permanent steps to ensure the safety of journalists is the need of the hour. It was also announced that all journalist organizations would continue their movement in unity until this incident is properly investigated.

Gazipur Central Press Club President Md. Abdul Wahab Rinku, Dhaka Press Club Finance Secretary M Nazrul Islam, Organizing Secretary M H Mahfuz, Tongi Press Club General Secretary Md. Kalimullah Iqbal, Society of National Media Commission Central President AKM Azizul Haque, General Secretary Md. Monir Hossain Chowdhury, Organizing Secretary Kamal Khan and other local journalist leaders spoke at the human chain program.

It is worth noting that local terrorist forces carried out a pre-planned attack on Dhaka Press Club General Secretary Mosleh Uddin Bachchu with hammers and sticks in the B.K. Bari area of ​​Mirzapur Union under Joydebpur police station in Gazipur Sadar Upazila. He was seriously injured and was admitted to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital.
