A three-day Fruit Fair-2026 was inaugurated in Pirojpur on Thursday with the slogan, “Agriculture is Prosperity: Let Us Cultivate Fruits and Preserve Them Throughout the Year.” The event aims to encourage fruit cultivation, raise nutrition awareness, and introduce farmers to modern agricultural technologies.
The fair was formally inaugurated at 11:00 am on the premises of the Deputy Director’s Office of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) at Khamarbari. The event was jointly organized by the District Administration and the Department of Agricultural Extension, Pirojpur.
Deputy Director of Local Government Mahamudur Rahman Mamun attended the inauguration ceremony as the chief guest. Among the special guests were Administrator of Pirojpur Zila Parishad and member of the BNP Central Executive Committee Principal Alamgir Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Nasrin Jahan, Pirojpur Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mamunur Rashid, District Jamaat Secretary Principal Zahirul Haque, and District Krishak Dal President Nasir Uddin Bacchu.
The inaugural function was presided over by Soumitra Sarkar, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Pirojpur. Government officials, farmers, agricultural entrepreneurs, teachers, and students from various educational institutions attended the event.
Following the inauguration, the guests visited different stalls participating in the fair. The stalls showcased a wide variety of local and exotic fruits, fruit-based products, and modern fruit cultivation technologies. Visitors were able to gather information on fruit production, preservation, and marketing techniques.
A discussion meeting was later held at the conference room of the Department of Agricultural Extension. Speakers highlighted the importance of fruits as a major source of nutrition and emphasized that expanding fruit cultivation can increase farmers’ incomes, ensure nutritional security, and strengthen the agriculture-based economy.
The speakers also stressed the need for producing safe and chemical-free fruits, adopting modern preservation technologies, and promoting fruit processing industries. They called for continued government support to encourage farmers to engage in profitable and modern fruit farming practices.
According to the organizers, the three-day fair features fruit exhibitions, agricultural technology advisory services, awareness-building activities for farmers, and information-based displays for visitors. The primary objective of the fair is to boost interest in fruit cultivation, enhance public awareness about nutrition, and familiarize farmers with modern agricultural innovations.
